About the Restaurant
Al Shoala (Al Shoala Turkish Grill) is a well-known shawarma restaurant in Bahrain, and one of the old ones: it opened in 1988. It serves shawarma, Turkish grills, grilled chicken, mezze, pizza and pastries. It has three branches: Jid Hafs, Jid Ali and Muharraq.
Lunch has plenty of dishes, but most people come for the shawarma at dinner.
Dinner: Shawarma and the “Arabi” Plate
For dinner there is chicken shawarma and meat shawarma, plus a kebab sandwich. But the one to order is the “Arabi”, by far their best dish:
- Six large pieces of shawarma, cut up and lightly grilled, with cheese inside that gives it an amazing taste, on Turkish bread
- Mayonnaise or garlic sauce on the side
- Fries on the side, and a sachet of ketchup
- Around 2.300 BHD
Lunch: Grilled Chicken and Mezze
Lunch has many dishes. What we usually order:
- A whole grilled chicken for 4 BHD
- A mixed mezze plate: hummus, tabbouleh, mutabbal, something spicy, a salad, olives and more. The big plate is about 2.500 BHD and the small one about 1.800 BHD
- It comes with hot, fresh Turkish bread that is hard to resist
Everything is generous, so it makes a great lunch with the family.
